OpenAI has [1]acquired the chat.com domain name , likely for well over $10 million. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted a one-word tweet this morning, simply stating, "chat.com." Domain Name Wire reports:

> The chat.com domain name has changed hands for the third time in two years. HubSpot founder Dharmesh Shah kicked off the buying last year, [2]plunking down over $15.5 million for the domain name. He turned around and sold the domain shortly thereafter for a profit.

ChatGPT is already the Kleenex or Xerox of LLM. And they've already been shot down for trying to trademark GPT. So Chat.com makes a lot of sense from the perspective of protecting their brand which is two untrademarkable words.

Just goes to show there's too much wasted money being thrown around. I was looking to pick up a website just to use as a redirect, to make it easier to hand out and the squatter wanted $10k for it. LOL. You keep it, I'll grab another variation. Went with a .us domain instead since it only costs me a few bucks a year.
