AT&T, Verizon subscribers suffer US-wide outage

Breaking news AT&T at least is suffering an outage right now in that United States that's seemingly largely on the east coast though said to be nationwide.
If you're wondering why you're unable to text, call, or get through to the internet using that network, or you're struggling to get hold of folks using it, now you know why.
DownDetector shows an explosion of complaints about [1]AT&T from netizens starting around 0900 ET and escalating throughout the day, especially from 1300 ET.

Connectivity appears to be sporadic: Some customers aren't affected, some are. Some have said restarting their devices has kicked their service back into life. Folks in New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Indianapolis have reported problems with AT&T at least, saying they've been unable to make calls primarily.

AT&T has indicated there is an issue with its customers contacting users of other networks at least.
"There is a nationwide issue that is affecting the ability of customers to complete calls between carriers," it said in a statement. "The carriers are working as quickly as possible to diagnose and resolve the issue.”

There are reports that some people are unable to make 911 calls, though AT&T said that should all be working as normal.
Though Verizon claimed its network is running fine, there is [8]a surge in complaints from its customers on DownDetector. Those may be due to them unable to reach AT&T users, though some say their internet connectivity is out or they can't make any calls at all.
