Alleged human and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg won a little competition over the weekend.

Not for [1]smoking meats or [2]awkwardly sipping water or even selling people's personal data to advertisers. No, apparently he IRL Zucked his opponents in a Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament.

The Facebook founder took to the Meta-owned [3]Instagram platform on Sunday to toot his own trumpet, saying he walked away with a gold and a silver medal for the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu team.

Did he threaten to expose competitors' embarrassing pictures they've untagged? Not according to professional MMA fighter and occasional sparring partner Khai Wu, who has described Zuck as a "silent killer" in the ring.

If the damage caused by social media wasn't so reprehensible, we might herald Mark as a poster boy for computer nerd success. Not only has he grown Facebook into a multibillion-dollar internet sensation, he can also kick your ass.

But then again, he did recently sack [7]tens of thousands of workers .

According to [9]Jits Magazine , his medals were won in both the "gi" (where the traditional training garb is worn) and "no gi" categories.

Zuck gave thanks to his trainer and Guerrilla founder Dave Camarillo, who also taught [14]Keanu Reeves for the upcoming John Wick sequel. Camarillo [15]said of the victory: "It's inspiring to see someone so known challenge themselves in a new arena. This goes to show how amazing the art of Jiu-Jitsu really is. It changes you, it enhances the power of will – it is magic. It also attracts some very driven people."

If it all comes as a bit of a surprise, Zuckerberg has been banging on about martial arts for some time. In a high-profile example, he told The Joe Rogan Experience last year that lockdown nurtured his interest. "I really like watching UFC, for example, but I also like doing the sport," he told the UFC commentator turned podcast king. "There's something so primal about it, I don't know. Since then, I've introduced a bunch of my friends to it. We train together and we, like, wrestle together. There's a certain intensity to it that I like."

He has even encouraged Facebook employees to take up the sport in branded gis, Jits Magazine [16]reported earlier this year.

And he's not the only famous face to pop up in the BJJ competitive scene. Brit heartthrob Tom Hardy – best known for his roles in Inception , The Dark Knight Rises , and Mad Max: Fury Road – appeared in a UK tournament last year [17]and also won gold .
