Amazon has confirmed people are unable to upload files to its Photos storage service, and believes it will be fixed sometime today.
Netizens have complained neither the apps nor the websites for Amazon Photos and its sibling Amazon Drive are functioning correctly. Judging by comments [1]posted on DownDetector.com and emails from Register readers, the platform has been broken since yesterday.
Folks [2]reporting from Canada, America, and Czechia say they are unable to transfer media to their Amazon-hosted online storage. Others in Brazil and Italy have similar complaints, though the internet giant claims the outage affects "North American customers."

Some have taken to Twitter to [5]point out they are unable to access their files let alone upload more. Others have made the mistake of reinstalling the Amazon Photos application, in hope that clears the problem, and found all their snaps and albums have vanished from view.
In a statement a couple of hours ago, Amazon said your uploaded media is not lost and it's trying to fix it all by the end of today:
Yesterday, May 11, we experienced an issue in our service where North American customers experienced difficulty uploading content. We have identified the issue and full service should be resumed by end of day today. Please be assured that your content is safe and secure.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
Punters are advised to send a private message to the Amazon Photos [6]account on Twitter if they have any further concerns or questions.
Amazon Photos [7]provides free unlimited storage of full-resolution photos, and up to 5GB of video, in the cloud for Prime members. Non-members get 5GB for photo and video storage. People can pay for more space. It's a service in competition with Google's [8]convoluted pics'n'vids hosting.
