Back in February we featured [1]LiteBox as a new Microsoft open-source project building out a Rust-based sandboxing Library OS. LiteBox leverages Linux virtualization security features and Rust language inherent benefits to provide the ability for sandboxing Linux apps on Linux, Linux programs on Windows, and other security-oriented deployments. Out today is the first tagged release of LiteBox for this open-source library operating system.
Since the code appeared near the beginning of the year, frankly I forgot about the LiteBox project from Microsoft. But surprisingly today the first "v0.1" tagged release was made for this security platform still being developed.
The LiteBox design goals have remained the same since then and the code has continued to be built out into a more functional solution. The [2]LiteBox v0.1 release is light on details but with a message that more detailed change-logs will occur with future releases.
So LiteBox is still alive and moving forward at Microsoft as an open-source project.
