Shotcut 26.9 Video Editor Beta Brings UI Improvements, Better Audio Quality

Following the recent Shotcut stable release with [1]a stock asset library and other improvements , Shotcut 26.9 Beta is out today with yet more improvements for this open-source video editing application for Linux, macOS, and Windows systems.

The beta release of Shotcut 26.9 brings improved audio quality by avoiding conversion of 16-bit integer and keeping the pipeline fully in 32-bit float mode. Separately there is also improved performance of Shotcut's Timeline functionality.

Shotcut 26.9 also enhanced its UI with an effort to be more modern with rounded corners and other refinements. The project also has a new logo.

Further making Shotcut 26.9 beta stand-out is FFmpeg 9.0 powering it, fixing VA-API HEVC hardware encoding on Linux, and a variety of other fixes and smaller improvements.

Those wanting to try out the Shotcut 26.9 beta can download it from [4]GitHub . In addition to the GPLv3-licensed source code are a Linux AppImage x86_64 build, a generic Linux x86_64 build, and macOS, and Windows binaries too.
