The Mozilla Firefox 155 release binaries are now available ahead of the formal announcement on Tuesday for this latest web browser release. With Firefox 155 it's heavier on new features than we have seen in some time.

With Firefox 155 it's possible for web pages to load faster now via Happy Eyeballs v3 with attempting multiple ways of connecting to a website at once and picking whichever succeeds first. Happy Eyeballs v3 builds upon the IPv4 vs. IPv6 selection in parallel to now use modern DNS records for discovering the protocols a server supports and concurrently trying HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 for attempting to find the fastest connection.

Also of note is Firefox 155 now supporting QUIC version 2 for HTTP/3 connections and using it whenever the server selects it through compatible version negotiation.

Firefox 155 also brings Smart Window as an optional, AI-powered desktop browsing window. This does allow user-approved access to your open tabs and browsing history. Smart Window is initially available for users in the USA, Canada, and France.

Firefox 155 also brings a fix to address an issue that prevented Linux systems from going to sleep after a long browsing session.

Firefox 155 also has many developer changes like WebAssembly Compact Import Section support, WebAssembly Wide Arithmetic for 128-bit arithmetic instructions, the font-width property as the standard name for font-stretch, improved WebRTC interoperability, and support for the progress() CSS function.
