Armbian as the Debian/Ubuntu-derived distribution that provides an optimized platform for ARM and RISC-V single board computers is out today with a major update.
This Linux distribution that supports more than 300 different ARM single board computers has rewritten its installer, which is also now better tested. can flash a bootloader on its own, and brings other improvements. UEFI images for Armbian 26.8 are also now distributed as bootable live ISOs, which improves Armbian's support for IPMI virtual CD and cloud environments.
The Armbian 26.8 release is using the Linux 7.1 kernel by default while the recent Linux 7.2 stable release is available on edge branches for various hardware platforms. There are also various wireless driver improvements with this Amrbian release.
Newly supported SBCs by Armbian 26.8 include Anbernic RG DS and RG Vita Pro, Radxa Cubie A7Z and Dragon Q6A/Q8B, Seeed reComputer RK3576 and RK3588 DevKits, TI BeagleBadge and TMDS64EVM, Orange Pi 4 Pro and Zero 3W, Sovol Zero and SV08, Walnut Pi Box and 1B, EmbedFire LubanCat 5IO, LuckFox Nova, SpacemiT K3 Pico-ITX, Milk-V DuoS, Avnet MaaXBoard 8ULP, NanoPi NEO3 Plus, KICKPI K3B, Graperain G3568 v2, EASY EAI Nano, Mellow Fly C5, CIX P1, Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro and Tanix TX6S.
