LibreOffice 26.8 is now available as the latest half-year feature update to this leading open-source alternative to Microsoft Office.

There are many nice refinements and new features to be found with LibreOffice 26.8. Some of the LibreOffice 26.8 highlights are listed below.

- Faster opening of very large Writer documents with images.

- Infrastructure to support comparing documents side-by-side in LibreOffice Writer.

- Calc adds a shuffle command to randomize the order of cells in a range.

- LibreOffice Draw now supports swapping mouse wheel zoom and scroll.

- LibreOffice Chart has experimental support for import and re-export of new Chartex chart types that can be created in Microsoft Office and saved to OOXML files.

- Microsoft XLSX compatibility improvements.

- LibreOffice 26.8 now has the Notebookbars' background color be colored individually per LibreOffice module.

LibreOffice 26.8 also had plans for [2]a donation banner in the LibreOffice Start Center . But in the release build, the donation area in the start center amounts to just one button.
