KDE developers have been working on kscreenctl as a utility replacement to kscreen-doctor. Plasma and related code has also seen a number of bug/crash fixes coming about this week too.

This Week in Plasma is out with its latest issue to sum up all of the interesting KDE Plasma desktop changes over the past week. Highlights include:

- Plasma 6.8 is introducing "kscreenctl" as a new screen control tool to eventually replace the kscreen-doctor tool. The kscreenctl tool provides various options to change the display output configuration.

- Plasma 6.8's built-in remote desktop (RDP) server now has a setting to optionally auto-lock the session after the last connected RDP client disconnects.

- Plasma 6.8's Plasma Login Manager will now track the last-used session on a per-user basis.

- For Plasma 6.6.7 there is a fix for a KWin crash on log-in when using newer NVIDIA GPUs with the latest NVIDIA drivers and have various color management features enabled.

- Plasma 6.7.4 has a crash fix for KWin on login for various laptops.

- Plasma 6.7.4 has a crash fix where System Settings would go down if Fanatec racing pedals were connected to the system.

- KDE Frameworks 6.29 has fixed a surprisingly common but random-appearing way that Plasma could crash within the

QTextFrame::begin code.
