The Unwill laptop driver on Linux for supporting various device-specific features by that major OEM/ODM will be seeing several new features with the Linux 7.3 cycle later this year. One of the most notable users of the Unwill driver is Bavarian Linux PC vendor TUXEDO Computers.
Several Uniwill laptop driver patches were queued over the past week into the x86 platform drivers' "for-next" Git branch ahead of the Linux 7.3 merge window in late August.
First up is [1]keyboard backlight support for controlling its behavior via the Linux standard LED class interface. This supports both the white-only and full multi-color RGB keyboard backlights.
The Uniwill driver can also now toggle the [2]AC auto boot support for whether the system should automatically boot when being connected to a power source.
There is also support now for [3]USB power share for toggling whether the system will continue to provide power via the USB ports when hibernating or powered off.
New device support for the uniwill-laptop driver is for the [4]MACHENIKE L16 Pro laptop , [5]AiStone X4SP4NAL , and [6]lightbar support for the LAPQC71A/B .
These Uniwill laptop driver improvements were worked on by open-source developer Armin Wolf and are now part of [7]platform-drivers-x86.git's for-next Git branch ahead of Linux 7.3.
