It's not only the Linux networking subsystem where many fixes have been appearing -- including several notable security fixes for local privilege escalation issues -- leading to [1]"craziness" from AI / LLMs . The Linux sound subsystem has also been seeing an uptick in activity with many "assisted-by" patches coming about in recent weeks.
Sound subsystem maintainer Takashi Iwai of SUSE began today's sound fixes pull request with:
"As expected, we still continue receiving lots of small fixes. One major change is about HD-audio pending IRQ handling, but this would influence only on odd machines or slow VMs. There are a few other fixes for the core part, but most of them are not-too-serious UAF fixes, while the rest are mostly device-specific fixes and quirks."
Checking the Linux sound mailing list, there's no shortage of "assisted-by" patches and the like from Claude Code to GPT-5.5 this month.
Today's [2]pull request brings several core sound fixes, Realtek quirks for different HP and ASUS laptop models, audio LED fixes, Intel table updates for Panther Lake / Nova Lake / Arrow Lake, and many small fixes across the board.
