GNOME 51 Could End Up Replacing System Tools With "Resources" App

([GNOME] 111 Minutes Ago GNOME 51)

The current GNOME System Monitor is on track to be replaced by the GNOME Resources app for as soon as the GNOME 51 desktop release.

GNOME Resources supports [1]many extra features like NPU monitoring and [2]GPU power monitoring and broader device support than the stagnate GNOME System Monitor. Many also favor the UI of GNOME Resources. Ubuntu Linux already changed its default from GNOME System Monitor to Resources.

Opened three months ago and now seeing more activity recently is [4]this GNOME Incubator work item to ultimately promote Resources to core GNOME as a replacement to the GNOME System Monitor. The project's GitHub repository was archived this week with now being officially [5]hosted by GNOME.org GitLab as an incubator project.

With how it's tracking it looks like everything could be crossed off in time for GNOME 51 in September. Otherwise we'd likely be looking at it next spring for GNOME 52 as the default.

Opened yesterday was [8]this GNOME Shell merge request for replacing org.gnome.SystemMonitor with org.gnome.Resources as another step of the process.
