For those making use of OpenZFS on Linux or FreeBSD, OpenZFS 2.4.2 is out today as the newest stable release of this ZFS file-system implementation.

Most notable with the OpenZFS 2.4.2 release is adding support for the stable Linux 7.0 kernel where as up to now the prior point release only supported through Linux 6.19. Support back to the distant Linux 4.18 kernel is maintained. On the FreeBSD side, FreeBSD 13.3 and newer continue working with this OpenZFS code.

OpenZFS 2.4.2 contains many fixes including around initramfs, supporting POSIX_FADV_DONTNEED, test suite fixes, continuous integration (CI) updates, some early Linux 7.1 fixes, greater SPDX license enforcement, and a number of Linux-specific code changes too.

For those not yet on the OpenZFS 2.4 series but still with the prior 2.3 stable series, [2]OpenZFS 2.3.7 is also now available with support through Linux 7.0 and carrying over many of the same fixes.
