[1]D7VK continues advancing for this Vulkan-based implementation of Direct3D 7 that also supports D3D 6 / 5 / 3 APIs too for vintage games ultimately rendered using the modern Vulkan API.
D7VK 1.9 is out today as a big update for 2D-heavy Direct3D games. D7VK 1.9 introduces a system of delayed image uploads and dirty tracking for much better performance of 2D-heavy D3D7 and older games. Anno 1503 for example went from 36 to 75 FPS. The Hogs of War game went from 18.4 to 60 FPS with this new D7VK release.
The new tracking system used by D7VK 1.9 also provides lower CPU usage, lower memory footprint, and better frame-time consistency.
More details on this improvement with D7VK 1.9 and the other enhancements for this D3D-on-Vulkan open-source implementation can be found via [2]GitHub .
