KDE Linux continues making progress as the in-house Linux distribution to best showcase the latest KDE Plasma desktop innovations.
With the start of the new month comes a new monthly progress report on KDE Linux via KDE developer Nate Graham. One of the most interesting changes in April is KDE Linux now moving from the in-kernel VT to the user-space [1]KMSCON software for their console experience.
[2]This merge by Hadi Chokr switched to KMSCON for a "safer and better" TTY experience. The rationale is better security, mouse/touchpad support, scrolling, multi-seat, hardware acceleration, and more. [3]Fedora 45 is planning to use KMSCON by default while [4]GNOME OS already switched to KMSCON by default . Here's their showcase of it albeit not doing it justice for demonstrating the greatness of KMSCON experience:
KDE Linux also added screen reader support for its installer, IPv6 privacy addressing by default, the new Union theming system by default for QML apps, and various other enhancements.
More details on these KDE Linux improvements during the month of April can be found via [5]Nate Graham's blog .
