Framework Previews The OCuLink Dev Kit

([Hardware] 4 Hours Ago Framework OCuLink Dev Kit For eGPUs)

In addition to [1]announcing the Framework Laptop 13 Pro today, Framework Computer at their next-gen hardware event also previewed the OCuLink Dev Kit for attaching high throughput peripherals like external GPUs (eGPUs) to Framework Laptops.

The Framework OCuLink Dev Kit is a modular bridge between the Framework Laptop 16 with its PCIe connectivity from the Expansion Bay to allow for direct, high-speed communication between the CPU and external hardware like an eGPU setup via OCuLink.

[2]

Not many details were shared on the Framework OCuLink Dev Kit today, at least for the embargoed pre-briefing. But with it just being a "preview", no pricing or firm availability yet available.

[3]

In any event this is an interesting complement for the [4]Framework Laptop 16 for being able to attach high-end graphics cards for faster gaming and/or AI / GPU compute.

[5]

On the high-end hardware side, Framework Computer also announced a 10Gb Ethernet expansion card they co-designed with Winispi for allowing 10Gb networking connectivity from Framework Laptops.
