System76 Makes The Best Open-Source Keyboard Even Better

If System76 engineers didn't already have enough going on with recently shipping the COSMIC Rust-based desktop environment and also shipping Pop!_OS 24.04 as their in-house Linux distribution plus [2]completely redesigning the Thelio Desktop , they also recently revised their Launch Keyboard. They have made this leading open-source keyboard design even better with the latest iteration of the System76 Launch Keyboard.

[3]

Back in 2021 [4]System76 introduced their own keyboard with an open-source hardware design backed by open-source software when it comes to the device firmware as well as their configurator app for toggling the LEDs, keymaps, and other features of the keyboard. System76 recently refreshed their keyboard design that is available to buy standalone regardless of owning a System76 system or to buy at the same time as a new Thelio desktop.

[5]

The new System76 Launch Keyboard features a Prism Black finish and improved keycaps. The new System76 Launch Keyboards are using double-shot PBT shine-through keycaps. The System76 Launch keyboard uses Kailh MX Hotswap Sockets and Kailh Box Jade, Royal, Silent Pink or Silent Brown Switches.

[6]

The USB hub built into this made-in-the-USA keyboard features two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports.

[7]

The System76 Launch Keyboards continue to be manufactured in Denver by the company directly. The build quality of these keyboards remain absolutely top-notch. You really need to get your hands on the System76 Launch Keyboard to do justice for comprehending the build quality of it.

[8]

Made out of milled aluminum, the build quality is incredible and can withstand quite a beating of constant use whether you're a gamer, coder, or just heavy-duty enthusiast. The attention to detail is also superb such as with the magnetic feet for those wanting a slight (15 degree) incline to the keyboard.

I myself have dreamed up a structure intermediate between Dyson spheres
and planets. Build a ring 93 million miles in radius -- one Earth orbit
-- around the sun. If we have the mass of Jupiter to work with, and if
we make it a thousand miles wide, we get a thickness of about a thousand
feet for the base.

And it has advantages. The Ringworld will be much sturdier than a Dyson
sphere. We can spin it on its axis for gravity. A rotation speed of 770
m/s will give us a gravity of one Earth normal. We wouldn't even need to
roof it over. Place walls one thousand miles high at each edge, facing the
sun. Very little air will leak over the edges.

Lord knows the thing is roomy enough. With three million times the surface
area of the Earth, it will be some time before anyone complains of the
crowding.
