Godot 4.6 Ships Many Improvements For This Leading Open-Source Game Engine

([Linux Gaming] 5 Hours Ago Godot 4.6)

Godot 4.6 is officially out today as the newest feature release for this leading open-source, cross-platform game engine.

Godot 4.6 is using its Jolt physics code by default, which had been an experimental option since Godot 4.4. Godot 4.6 also brings a major overhaul to its screen space reflection (SSR) code for much better reflections.

Another fundamental change with Godot 4.6 is introducing LibGodot as a library to embed the engine directly in your own applications rather than relying on Godot as a separate executable. Native OpenXR 1.1 support is another nice addition for Godot 4.6. For Godot 4.6 on Windows, Direct3D 12 is now the new rendering default.

The Godot 4.6 game engine's editor has introduced a new "modern" theme to complement its classic theme. There is also documentation improvements and other enhancements in Godot 4.6 for assisting game developers.
