Hitting the Linux kernel mailing list this weekend are some missing quirks for new Dell laptops powered by Panther Lake and using the Cirrus CS42L43 audio codec.
[2]This patch to the Intel Sound Open Firmware (SOF) driver code in the LInux kernel is needed for the speaker output handling with Dell Panther Lake hardware. The DMI matching is against a model number of 0DD6. The Cirrus CS42L43 audio codec features the MIPI SoundWire interface and is already found in some Intel Lunar Lake laptops while it looks like it's going to also be found in select Panther Lake laptops too.
The Dell quirk is now out for review on the Linux kernel mailing list but will presumably be pulled in soon as part of the sound subsystem fixes for the ongoing Linux 6.19 cycle and then likely back-ported to the Linux kernel stable series.
Intel for months has been getting their Panther Lake laptop support in order for Linux. It appears to be in largely good shape at this point with the latest upstream kernels while we'll see how the support plays out for released laptops as well as the Panther Lake Linux performance once actually getting our hands on hardware.
