This Week in GNOME is out with its latest issue that outlines some UI progress made as well as addressing an aging GNOME bug that could result in not all files/directories being properly removed when emptying the Trash from the GNOME desktop.

Among the GNOME highlights for the past week include the GNOME Settings app has been ported to the Blueprint UI definition files. The developers hope this Blueprint port will make it more approachable to newcomers. The Blueprint UI approach is still considered experimental but now GNOME Settings follows GNOME Calendar in being initial users of it.

GNOME Calendar meanwhile has received a visual overhaul, which can be most noticeable with smaller monitors.

GNOME Maps is now capable of showing localized metro/railway station icons for some geographies.

GNOME's GLib library meanwhile has taken on an issue of making sure your Trash is really empty due to a bug discovered around leftover files within ~/.local/share/Trash/expunged/ . This addresses a [1]years old bug report over permission issues leading to some files not being deleted when emptying the Trash. With [2]the new GLib code , it will now verify you can delete the file from the Trash before moving it, including files within directories.
