Adding on to the Intel Xeon 6 " [1]Granite Rapids " CPU family are today three new models focused on delivering enhanced GPU-accelerated AI performance.
Intel today lifted the embargo on three new Xeon 6 Granite Rapids processors catering to GPU-equipped AI servers, one of which is the Xeon 6776P processor powering the NVIDIA DGX B300. With the new Xeon 6 CPUs Intel is introducing Priority Core Turbo "PCT" technology and Intel Speed Select Technology Turbo Frequency "SST-TF" features for helping out in AI workloads.
Intel's press release talks up the new Xeon 6 features as:
"The introduction of PCT, paired with Intel SST-TF, marks a significant leap forward in AI system performance. PCT allows for dynamic prioritization of high-priority cores (HP cores), enabling them to run at higher turbo frequencies. In parallel, lower-priority cores (LP cores) operate at base frequency, ensuring optimal distribution of CPU resources. This capability is critical for AI workloads that demand sequential or serial processing, feeding GPUs faster and improving overall system efficiency."
Intel software engineers have recently been working on [2]more Linux patches around SST-TF .
Unfortunately that's all there is to share today on these new Xeon 6 CPU additions with SST-TF and PCT. There wasn't even a proper slide deck with any performance claims, SKU table, pricing, or any other details... Just the basic press release provided in advance and one info-graphic:
[3]
Similarly, no review hardware was provided for these new Xeon 6 processors -- nor [4]the other recently-launched Xeon 6 models -- so unfortunately no independent benchmarks or other Linux performance data to share at this time. These new Intel Xeon 6 CPUs are supposed to be available today but how robust the availability will be remains to be seen as well as if there will be any review samples post-launch.
Update: Those curious to see the press release in full can find it now on the [5]Intel Newsroom .
