AMD Posts Open-Source Linux Patches For Pensando RDMA Driver

([AMD] 4 Hours Ago AMD Pensando RDMA)

The newest open-source Linux driver being worked on by AMD engineers is a Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) solution for their Pensando networking hardware.

Posted a short time ago on the Linux kernel mailing list are patches for introducing the AMD Pensando RDMA driver for use with AMD-Pensando network adapters and getting all of the Remote DMA capabilities exposed. [1]AMD acquired Pensando a few years back and is playing a big role in their open AI networking push.

The AMD Pensando RDMA driver is building off [2]the Pensando IONIC driver code originally upstreamed to the Linux kernel back in 2019 [3]even before Pensando Systems exited stealth mode .

Today's patch series splits up the IONIC Ethernet driver code and extends it to support RDMA. Those interested can see [4]this kernel mailing list patch series for the AMD Pensando RDMA driver details.
