Ubuntu Developers Discuss Abandoning Mailing Lists For Discourse

([Ubuntu] 3 Hours Ago Ubuntu Discourse)

Ubuntu developers decided a few months back to [1]switch from IRC to Matrix for real-time communication needs . The newest fundamental shift being discussed by Ubuntu developers is shifting from mailing list discussions to Ubuntu Discourse for mailing list like written communications.

Some teams at Ubuntu and in turn Canonical have already shifted in large part to using Ubuntu Discourse for long-form communications. Now a discussion has been initiated if Ubuntu mailing lists in mass should be transitioned to using Ubuntu Discourse.

Ubuntu developer Robie Basak has started the discussion over this possible transition from mailing lists to the Ubuntu Discourse for long form written communication. The idea is still being raised and some ideas will be hashed out over possible workflow changes for Ubuntu Discourse usage.

Those interested in voicing their opinions or following the conversation over moving from Ubuntu mailing lists to Discourse can see [3]this mailing list thread for the new topic.

A master was asked the question, "What is the Way?" by a curious monk.
"It is right before your eyes," said the master.
"Why do I not see it for myself?"
"Because you are thinking of yourself."
"What about you: do you see it?"
"So long as you see double, saying `I don't', and `you do', and so
on, your eyes are clouded," said the master.
"When there is neither `I' nor `You', can one see it?"
"When there is neither `I' nor `You',
who is the one that wants to see it?"
