Cage 0.2 Released For Wayland-Powered Kiosks With Single, Maximized Apps

([Wayland] 87 Minutes Ago Cage 0.2)

Prominent Wayland developer Simon Ser has released Cage v0.2, a Wayland kiosk compositor that runs single, maximized applications.

The Cage compositor is intended just for appliance-like devices and other kiosk scenarios where just running a single application in a full-screen environment. With Cage v0.2 it incorporates all of the improvements from the wlroots 0.17 and wlroots 0.18 releases with Cage being built off this Wayland support library.

Cage 0.2 also adds support for primary selection and adds support for relative pointers with the relative-pointer-unstable-v1 protocol. Cage has also made XWayland optional at run-time.

Not far from here, by a white sun, behind a green star, lived the
Steelypips, illustrious, industrious, and they hadn't a care: no spats in
their vats, no rules, no schools, no gloom, no evil influence of the
moon, no trouble from matter or antimatter -- for they had a machine, a
dream of a machine, with springs and gears and perfect in every respect.
And they lived with it, and on it, and under it, and inside it, for it
was all they had -- first they saved up all their atoms, then they put
them all together, and if one didn't fit, why they chipped at it a bit,
and everything was just fine ...
