Wine 9.17 Released With Better ARM64 CPU Detection, HiDPI Window Surface Scaling

Wine 9.17 is out today as quite an exciting update for this open-source software that allows Windows games and applications to run on Linux systems and other platforms.

Wine 9.17 ships the new [1]VKD3D 1.13 with its improvements for mapping the Direct3D 12 API atop Vulkan. Wine 9.17 also ships the updated Mono 9.3 engine. In case you missed it recently, Microsoft has [2]donated Mono to the Wine project for taking over its development.

Also making Wine 9.17 exciting is that it finally offers window surface scaling for high DPI (HiDPI) displays, improved ARM64 CPU detection, and a total of 29 bug fixes. The bug fixes for this bi-weekly Wine release range from addressing problems with Quicktime to various games. DPI-scaled window surfaces is great to finally see land for Wine to improve the HiDPI experience for Windows apps / games on modern displays under Linux.
