[1]Miracle-WM as the Mir-powered Wayland compositor inspired by i3 and Sway is out with another new release. It's rather ironic that while Miracle-WM is principally developed by a Canonical engineer associated with Ubuntu Linux, these recent Miracle-WM releases are being driven in part by [2]preparing for a Fedora Miracle spin due out as part of the Fedora Linux 41 release in October.
Miracle-WM lead developer Matthew Kosarek continues polishing up Miracle-WM ahead of its showcase as the Fedora Miracle spin this autumn with Fedora 41 while I haven't seen any signs of an official Ubuntu Miracle spin as part of the upcoming Ubuntu 24.10. Kosarek wrote in Monday's v0.3.3 announcement:
"The sprint to the first version of the Fedora miracle spin continues. In this release, we've added a few important quality of life things, like being able to specify the path to a configuration or no configuration at all. On top of that, we've continued with even more refactoring work around containers, in preparation for a fuller i3-ipc implementation. A proper minor release should be happening at the end of September so stay tuned."
This follows the prior release two weeks ago that was also [3]focused on preparing for Fedora Miracle . Fedora Miracle though is not to be confused with the Fedora project's prior [4]Beefy Miracle codename.
Miracle-WM 0.3.3 brings IPC improvements, a "--no-config" launch option to load without any configuration file, a "miracle-config-path" option to specify an arbitrary configuration file, and other changes.
