Annoncée en octobre dernier, l’offre Ubuntu Pro est disponible dès maintenant. Elle étend la couverture des mises à jour de sécurité jusqu’à 10 ans. Les 5 premiers appareils sont gratuits. Tous les détails.

La version bêta lancée à l’automne dernier a été rejointe par des sociétés comme NVIDIA, Google, Acquia, VMWare et LaunchDarkly. Depuis l’annonce de la version bêta en octobre 2022, des dizaines de milliers d’utilisateurs d’Ubuntu se sont inscrits au service.

Ubuntu Pro, c’est quoi ?

Ubuntu Pro est un abonnement permettant d’ étendre la période de mises à jour , de maintenance et de sécurité pour les systèmes d’exploitation Ubuntu, à destination des centres de données, mais aussi des postes de travail.

Pour qui ?

Ubuntu Pro est disponible pour toutes les versions Ubuntu LTS à partir de 16.04 LTS. L’abonnement standard couvre l’ensemble des mises à jour de sécurité pour tous les paquets d’Ubuntu, y compris les CVE (expositions communes critiques) pour des milliers d’applications tierces. La liste est d’ailleurs impressionnante : Ansible, Apache Tomcat, Apache Zookeeper, Docker, Drupal, Nagios, Node.js, phpMyAdmin, Puppet, PowerDNS, Python 2, Redis, Rust, WordPress.

Une version gratuite

Une version gratuite est lancée par l’éditeur Canonical pour une utilisation personnelle et commercialise jusqu’à 5 machines.

Les utilisateurs peuvent obtenir un abonnement personnel gratuit à Ubuntu Pro sur [1]le site web Ubuntu.com , pour un maximum de cinq machines. Au-delà, c’est le modèle payant qui s’impose.

Combien coûte Ubuntu Pro ?

Au-delà de 5 appareils, Ubuntu Pro coûte environ 25 € par an pour une station de travail ou 500 € par an pour un serveur. Avec un essai gratuit de 30 jours.

L’abonnement [2]standard Ubuntu Pro couvre l’ensemble des mises à jour de sécurité pour tous les paquets des dépôts Ubuntu Main et Universe.

Ubuntu Pro peut être associé à une couverture de support de niveau entreprise allant jusqu’à 24×7 pour le système d’exploitation Ubuntu, MAAS, LXD, Kubernetes, OpenStack ou le stockage Ceph, et désormais aussi une gamme d’applications open source.

First there was Dial-A-Prayer, then Dial-A-Recipe, and even Dial-A-Footballer.
But the south-east Victorian town of Sale has produced one to top them all.
Dial-A-Wombat.
It all began early yesterday when Sale police received a telephone
call: "You won't believe this, and I'm not drunk, but there's a wombat in the
phone booth outside the town hall," the caller said.
Not firmly convinced about the caller's claim to sobriety, members of
the constabulary drove to the scene, expecting to pick up a drunk.
But there it was, an annoyed wombat, trapped in a telephone booth.
The wombat, determined not to be had the better of again, threw its
bulk into the fray. It was eventually lassoed and released in a nearby scrub.
Then the officers received another message ... another wombat in
another phone booth.
There it was: *Another* angry wombat trapped in a telephone booth.
The constables took the miffed marsupial into temporary custody and
released it, too, in the scrub.
But on their way back to the station they happened to pass another
telephone booth, and -- you guessed it -- another imprisoned wombat.
After some serious detective work, the lads in blue found a suspect,
and after questioning, released him to be charged on summons.
Their problem ... they cannot find a law against placing wombats in
telephone booths.
