This shows that Time is no longer worthy of being mentioned by ANYONE. Seriously, the writers and editors at Time should just file for unemployment now and get ahead of their being fired for incompetence.

Kind of getting that impression, yes. Maybe I'm missing something, but there's only one celebrity who I consider to be in any way influential in AI, and that's only because he has a second career as POTUS and could cause all sorts of regulatory roadblocks if he wants to. Otherwise, celebrities might encourage AI adoption, but that doesn't make you an AI leader. It makes you a promoter/marketer.

They should pull a Bezos. Jensen and Lisa can buy TIME so they will write better articles about them. Since time is an obsolute way of thinking, Jensen can rename it [1]"Speed of Light" [game-changer.net] or [2]SOL [dictionary.com] magazine.

I think making a list like this is beneath Time magazine (maybe not? are they fully irrelevant?) but at least be consistent. Huang and Su are at the epicenter of AI. How could you say the guy making 98% of the AI hardware doesn't influence AI?

While Time isn't front-and-center as it used to be, they were never great at aligning with public perception of who should make their top lists. Sometimes they go super obscure, and sometimes they plop celebrities into lists that make no sense at all because someone on staff once heard them speak about whatever subject the list is about. There may have been a hint of popularity contest about their lists in the past, but that seems to have faded since print publications have slowly ebbed out of the public sp

Snubbing Huang and Su is not as notable as some of whom made the list. It is one thing to decide that there are a lot of relevant, highly influential people, and inevitably some cuts are going to have to be made. But Paris Hilton made the list. Seriously?

I remember that growing up I read every issue as they arrived, and loved them so much I kept them all in a box. I never re-read them, and eventually that box did make it into the garbage ... but it took years and was quite full at that point.
Time used to be a bastion of quality journalism, but in the digital age they've been reduced to irrelevance, except when they name the X of the year.
