After a three-month testing period, the three satellites will begin actively providing data to fire agencies while covering every fire-prone region on Earth at least twice per day.

Are they saying that these satellites have been up for 10 days and have not yet detected that big ass fire?

Hmm, I read that more as they've been monitor the situation for 3 months as testing and now they are ready to use them in production. They must feel they can trust the data and are now releasing it to the fire agencies. Presumably, they were not releasing data before this because they were still in the testing phase.
Frankly, I'm surprised this hasn't been done already.
Put out fires quickly letting fuel build up (Score:2)
Quicker fire response will let us put out the fires quickly. This will allow more and more fuel to build up. Then a fire will start that we cannot put out. This will cause massive destruction just like in the past. I thought we learned not to do this. We need some other fire control system that does not allow fuel to build up. Like solar powered roving mulching robots that clear underbrush like fires do but without the destruction.

It's almost as if allowing emissions to ramp up with little meaningful effort to control them is having the inevitable consequences predicted decades ago. But let's not deal with that, because it's hard. Instead let's have the President of the United States demand Canada hold back the tides.

Controlled burns when it isn't crispy or windy is how it is done already in the US and Canada. A toy robot is not going to get far in the back country terrain, and solar power is not going to drive a hypothetical mulcher.

Yeah, so if this is the cover story what other heat signatures might they be looking for?
It's not immediately obvious to me but something we should understand.
Detecting Zizians would help prevent these forest fires but it would be quite hard for a satellite to do that.

Airbus Defence and Space
Planet Labs PBC
BlackSky
I'm sure there are others.
What if Starlink v4 are licensed to have cameras installed, pointing both downwards and upwards.

We have a solution already. Trump will tariff the smoke away. I mean Canada sent firefighters when America was sending smoke, but maybe tariffs will be just as effective, no one knows until we try right?

I think you are entirely clueless about just how vast the Canadian wilderness is. Nobody is going to be clearing the underbrush in millions of square miles of unpopulated boreal forest.

I just checked. NOAA does this already, as does NASA, ESA, and others. I guess redundancy is good, but I'd also guess various entities can access the NOAA and NASA products for free.
