It's not only dear to the hears of many who were nascent gamers in that era, but is important for needing so [2]much [segaretro.org] [3]space [coloradocollege.edu][warning: PDF] that the games themselves were made very carefully to conserve every bit of storage to keep the sound in.

I still set my modern computers to play this sound on login. It just feels right.
It also stopped a room once when I rebooted my laptop during a meeting. The pause and disbelief, followed by, " . . . really?"

The AOL instant messenger sounds represent quintessential internet to me more than the minecraft soundtrack. but I suppose it makes sense to add something newer-ish alongside Win95 sounds.
