SoftBank May Pledge More Than $1 Trillion for AI Effort in US, Nikkei Says (msn.com)

SoftBank Group plans to create industrial parks for AI across the US and is [1]considering an investment of more than $1 trillion , Nikkei reported. From a report:

> Founder and Chief Executive Officer Masayoshi Son is expected to visit the US to discuss his ideas for such industrial parks, the newspaper said. The factories would likely use AI-equipped robots that would operate autonomously because of labor shortages in the country, according to the report.

I really don't understand the insane amounts of cash being thrown at AI. Some cool things have come out of it for sure, but nothing nearly to justify the hype.

I wish I could figure out a way to short the AI bubble.

SoftBank has already had to borrow tens of billions just to commit to their current pledges for Stargate. The idea that they can pledge a trillion is so absurd that even if you read it as satire, it would still be too unbelievable to be entertaining.

We're supposed to believe, for a nanosecond, that they are going to spend the equivalent of 22 years worth of their total annual revenue?
