Thibaut Courtois élu homme de la finale: “Je ne pense pas être assez respecté, surtout en Angleterre”

Élu homme du match lors de la finale entre Liverpool et le Real Madrid, Thibaut Courtois a éclaboussé la rencontre par sa prestation et ses arrêts décisifs, contribuant largement au succès des Madrilènes (0-1).

“Vendredi, en conférence de presse, j’ai dit que lorsque Madrid jouait des finales il les gagnait. J’étais du bon côté de l’histoire”, a déclaré le gardien belge. “Aujourd’hui (NDLR: samedi), j’avais besoin de gagner une finale pour ma carrière, pour tous les efforts que j’ai faits, pour que mon nom soit respecté, car je ne pense pas être assez respecté, surtout en Angleterre. J’ai vu beaucoup de critiques même après une grande saison.”

“Un grand match”



Le portier du Real est aussi revenu sur le parcours des siens dans cette Ligue des Champions. “Je suis vraiment fier de l’équipe. Nous nous sommes accrochés et quand j’avais besoin d’être là, j’étais là pour l’équipe. Nous avons battu certains des meilleurs clubs du monde. City et Liverpool ont été incroyables cette saison. Ils se sont battus jusqu’au bout en Premier League, Liverpool a remporté deux coupes et ils étaient vraiment forts. Nous avons joué un grand match aujourd’hui, nous avons eu une occasion et nous l’avons marquée.”
