Lenovo's latest gaming monster: Eight cores, 3.2GHz, giant heatsink, TWO fans. Oh, and it has a phone bolted on

(2021/04/09)

Lenovo's latest tech features top-shelf components and new cooling technologies.

Designed for gaming, the Chinese firm claims it provides a 35 per cent performance boost plus a full suite of premium features over the previous generation. The kit is also equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform. Yep. Because it is a phone.

The ATA 2.0 dual design puts the CPU in the middle, away from gamer hands on the ends of the horizontal device. The overall thermal design is quite sensible with dual fans, a 4,730mm² vapor chamber liquid cooling area, and 3,000mm² air-duct.

The Octa-trigger - the eight keys (four on the edge, two on the screen and two on the back) pounded when gamers grab their loot or shoot someone - is meant to support a more "natural grip", with a placement that Lenovo claimed would give couch warriors to "the edge in battle."

[5]

The screen is slightly bigger than a [6]Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra at 6.92 inches. It has a decent refresh ratio of 144Hz and a hefty touch input rate of 720Hz.

[7]

Another hefty thing is the price. It will vary depending on location, as will availability. The device should be available this month in China, in Europe and Asia Pacific in May, and who knows when in North America. For Europe, the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 with 16GB/512GB memory option and charging dock included will start at around a cool €1,000. ®
