After 23 Years, Longtime Linux Developer To "Step Back For A While"

([Linux Kernel] 20 Minutes Ago Linux Kernel Development For 23 Years)

Longtime Linux kernel engineer Darrick Wong who [1]stepped down as the XFS file-system maintainer in 2023 is now taking a step back from his other Linux kernel development roles after working on the kernel the past 23 years.

In [2]a commit merged today to the Linux Git tree for Linux 7.3, Darrick Wong removes himself as a code reviewer for the IOmap file-system code. He commented in the patch message:

"After 14 years at Oracle and 23 years working on Linux, I've decided to step back for a while."

That was the last of the areas he formally oversaw for Linux kernel development after stepping down from XFS maintainer.

p.s. - i'm about *this* close to running around in the server room with a
pair of bolt cutters, and a large wooden mallet, laughing like a maniac and
cutting everything i can fit the bolt cutters around. and whacking that
which i cannot. so if i seem semi-incoherent, or just really *really* nasty
at times, please forgive me. stress is not a pretty thing. };P
