With all [2]the recent progress on Mesa's Rusticl driver as a Rust-based OpenCL driver working across the different Mesa Gallium3D hardware drivers, a [3]Phoronix Premium supporter inquired about seeing some fresh benchmarks of this open-source OpenCL solution. Here is a look at how the Mesa 26.3 Rusticl driver is looking against AMD's official OpenCL driver within ROCm 10.

In being curious how this generic Rust OpenCL driver is standing up against a dedicated OpenCL hardware driver, I compared Mesa 26.3 Git recently with its Rusticl driver compared to the OpenCL driver shipped by AMD as part of ROCm 10. This round of OpenCL benchmarking was done on the popular AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 "Strix Halo" platform using the excellent [5]Framework Desktop .

Rusticl in its current form supports the latest OpenCL 3.1 API while the ROCm driver currently provides OpenCL 2.1 compliance. A wide variety of OpenCL benchmarks were carried out of these two OpenCL driver implementations on the same hardware.
