In addition to [1]the very nice AMDGPU IOMMU optimization for iGPUs set to debut in the Linux 7.4 kernel, over on the AMD EPYC server side for servers running SEV-SNP virtual machines is a separate, nice optimization also expected for this next kernel version.
After the patches went through sixteen rounds of revisions, AMD's [2]RMPOPT feature is queued into a TIP branch to be submitted for the Linux 7.4 merge window happening later in October. RMPOPT is a feature for EPYC server CPUs using SEV-SNP VMs to reduce the Reverse Map Table (RMP). RMPOPT is a feature for EPYC server CPUs using SEV-SNP VMs to reduce the Reverse Map Table (RMP).
RMPOPT thus should prove helpful for AMD EPYC Zen 6 "Venice" Linux servers where the server and in turn system RAM isn't saturated with confidential VMs.
The AMD RMPOPT v16 patches were queued recently into [3]tip/tip.git's x86/sev Git branch of Secure Encrypted Virtualization changes ahead of the Linux 7.4 cycle. So look for this useful optimization in that next kernel version, which in turn should be out in stable form around late December.
