KDE Plasma 6.7.2 To Fix KWin's Most Common Crash, Plasma 6.8 To Not Crash When Ejecting CDs

([KDE] 6 Hours Ago KDE Plasma This Week)

While [1]Plasma 6.7.1 was just released this week following the recent stable debut of Plasma 6.7, there are already a number of fixes piling up for Plasma 6.7.2 due out in July. Plus more feature work and fixes for Plasma 6.8 as the next desktop version going Wayland-only.

This Week in Plasma is out with its newest issue and some of the most interesting highlights for the week include:

Plasma 6.8 is introducing the ability to setup wallpaper slideshows that don't change automatically but require manual intervention via the desktop context menu or its global keyboard shortcut.

The upcoming Plasma 6.7.2 will fix the currently most common KWin crash. That KWin crash is around variable refresh rates with multi-monitor setups. More details in [2]this bug report . [3]The fix is ready to go.

Plasma 6.7.2 will also fix a case where the KDE Info Center would crash when trying to display information about select NVIDIA GPUs.

Aside from crash fixes in Plasma 6.7.2, that next update will also improve fullscreen video playback performance for Chromium-based apps.

Meanwhile Plasma 6.8 landed a fix for a possible crash that could occur after you eject an audio CD from Dolphin or Audex.

Plasma 6.8 also now turns on triple buffering by default for NVIDIA GPUs now that various other bugs have been fixed.

More details on these interesting changes via [4]This Week in Plasma .
