QSOE 0.1 has made its debut as a QNX-inspired, dual kernel architecture open-source operating system just targeting RISC-V.
QSOE ships with the same user-space and two kernel opttions: QSOE/N that is using the Skimmer micro-kernel that was written from scratch for this project. And then there is QSOE/L as running the seL4 micro-kernel. QSOE borrows design principles from QNX Neutrino of a small kernel with everything else in user-space, async message-passing IPC, and the resource-manager model for services.
QSOE is targeting only the RISC-V CPU architecture with the SiFive HiFive Unmatched and QEMU being the only supported targets right now. QSOE in this context is short for the Quick and Secure Operating Environment.
This new platform is Apache 2.0 licensed. Those wanting to learn more about the QSOE dual kernel architecture open-source platform can do so via [1]QSOE.net and the code is hosted on [2]GitLab .
