Miracle-WM Mir-Based Wayland Compositor Aiming For v1.0 Later This Year

Miracle-WM 0.10 released on Sunday as the newest feature release for this Mir-based Wayland compositor. With this new release is also acknowledgement they are hoping to cross the "1.0" milestone later in the year.

Canonical engineer Matthew Kosarek announced Miracle-WM 0.10 on Sunday with it bringing plug-in improvements where plug-ins can now set a per-window shader pipeline such as for focus blur functionality. Plug-ins are also now able to set an output shader pipeline too such as for nightlight-like plug-ins.

Miracle-WM 0.10 also supports a number of additional Wayland protocols including ext_data_control_manager_v1, ext_image_copy_capture_manager_v1, ext_output_image_capture_source_manager_v1, ext_foreign_toplevel_list_v1 and zwp_input_method_v1. In turn, Grimshot, wl-copy, and xdg-desktop-portal-wlr are now working on Miracle-WM.

Miracle-WM 0.10 also introduces a GTK4 client to report configuration errors to the user and a GTK4 debug overlay for information on window positioning and more. Embedded below is the official demo video of Miracle-WM 0.10.

Plus there are bug fixes and other improvements as outlined in the [1]Miracle-WM 0.10 announcement . If all goes well, Miracle-WM 1.0 will be ready for releasing later in 2026.
