The belated "This Month in Redox" was posted today for covering improvements made to this open-source, Rust-based operating system during the month of May. Most notable in May is seeing the Xfce desktop ported over to Redox OS.
Open-source developer Wildan Mubarok ported Xfce over to Redox OS as an effort to provide a better X11 experience. Xfce on Redox OS ends up being more stable than the GNOME2-derived MATE desktop environment due to crashes being encountered there. While Xfce is up and running on Redox OS, it's noted there are "many bugs" that need to be fixed before it's considered usable.
Redox in May also saw the EEVDF scheduler implemented for it, a 4x performance improvement on I/O event wait for Redox, "massive" performance improvement for the RedoxFS inode handling, support for incremental compilation in pre-built packages, and updating the Rust compiler.
Redox OS has also seen the COSMIC Monitor app ported over for Redox's first graphical system monitor application.
There have also been a number of other low-level kernel improvements and other driver enhancements made to Redox OS during May. More details on the May improvements via the [1]Redox-OS.org blog .
