([Ubuntu] 5 Hours Ago Ubuntu 26.04 LTS)

The official release ISOs of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, Ubuntu Server 26.04 LTS, and the various other Ubuntu flavors are now available for download.

[1]Ubuntu 26.04 is Canonical's newest Long Term Support (LTS) release and is powered by the very fresh Linux 7.0 kernel. GNOME 50 provides the default desktop environment on Ubuntu 26.04, GCC 15.2 is the default system compiler, the desktop and server installers have seen a number of refinements, the ARM64 support is in much better shape than on Ubuntu 24.04, RVA23 is the baseline for RISC-V hardware support, the Wayland experience is much more mature than on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, the AMD ROCm stack is available in the archive, and all around many other package updates and refinements compared to both Ubuntu 25.10 and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS has been running and performing well in the many benchmarks I've done in recent weeks and more are on the way. Ubuntu 26.04 is in very good shape for both desktop/laptop and server deployments. It's great as well they squeezed in the Linux 7.0 kernel for the very latest hardware support.

Ubuntu 26.04 ISOs can be downloaded from [2]releases.ubuntu.com .

I'm often asked the question, "Do you think there is extraterrestrial intelli-
gence?" I give the standard arguments -- there are a lot of places out there,
and use the word *billions*, and so on. And then I say it would be astonishing
to me if there weren't extraterrestrial intelligence, but of course there is as
yet no compelling evidence for it. And then I'm asked, "Yeah, but what do you
really think?" I say, "I just told you what I really think." "Yeah, but
what's your gut feeling?" But I try not to think with my gut. Really, it's
okay to reserve judgment until the evidence is in.
