All of the hardware monitoring "HWMON" subsystem updates were merged this week for the Linux 7.1 kernel.
Most notable of the HWMON code new to Linux 7.1 is [1]the new "yogafan" driver for various Lenovo laptops . As implied by the name, it works with various Lenovo Yoga branded laptops plus there is also support for some Legion, Flex, Slim, and IdeaPad laptop models too. The Yogafan driver interfaces with the fan speed information exposed via ACPI and provided by the embedded controller (EC) On these laptops.
Some of the laptops tested so far include the Yoga 14cACN, Yoga 710/720, Yoga Pro 7/9, Yoga Slim 7, IdeaPad 5, Legion 5 AMD, Legion 7i Intel, LOQ 15/16, ThinkBook G6, Flex 5, and various pre-2020 models using a legacy interface.
Other new HWMON drivers in Linux 7.1 include supporting the Infineon XDP720 eFuse, LattePanda Sigma EC, and Microchip MCP998X.
The ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-H, X470-F, and CROSSHAIR X670E are also the latest batch of ASUS desktop motherboards now seeing hardware sensor monitoring support under Linux using the ASUS-EC-Sensors driver.
Another notable hardware support addition is supporting the GPD Win 5 handheld via the GPD-Fan driver.
