The media subsystem updates have been merged for the ongoing [1]Linux 7.1 merge window and includes new hardware support.
The uvcvideo driver for Linux 7.1 adds support for the Intel RealSense D436 and RealSense D555 3D depth cameras. The UVC driver needed some additional metadata format bits added for properly dealing with the RealSense depth and sensor information. Additionally, the UVC video driver added P010 pixel format support.
The MIPI CSI device found with the Tegra20 and Tegra30 SoCs is also now upstream in the Linux 7.1 kernel. There are also new camera sensor drivers for the T4ka3 and ov2732.
Additional new hardware support includes enabling the NXP i.MX93 SoC within the Synopsys csi2rx code. Also on the NXP side is i.MX95 support in the IMX8-ISI driver and i.MX8ULP support via the IMX8MQ-MIPI-CSI2 driver.
Improving existing hardware support in the media driver in Linux 7.1 is improved support for DTV devices from Hauppauge.
Notably missing from the media subsystem pull for Linux 7.1 is the AMD ISP4 driver needed for the HP ZBook Ultra G1a laptop's web camera and future high-end Ryzen AI laptops. [2]The AMD ISP4 driver should finally land for Linux 7.2 .
The full list of media subsystem feature updates for Linux 7.1 can be found via [3]this pull that has since been merged to mainline.
