In addition to the [1]MediaTek MT7902 WiFI Linux support emerging in recent months, the Linux support for the MediaTek MT7927 is also coming together for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support for the upstream Linux kernel.

Open-source developer Javier Tia has been working on upstream open-source support for the Mediatek MT7927 in tacking it onto the existing "mt76" wireless driver.

This MediaTek MT7927 (Filogic 380) chipset support has been tested so far across ASUS, Lenovo, Foxconn, and AMD RZ738 hardware variants. This MT7927 chipset is used on a variety of modern laptops and motherboards for its WiFi 7 support as well as Bluetooth.

Javier managed to get the MT7927 working on Linux in part via reverse engineering as he explained recently on his [2]blog . There is also a [3]Linaro post on his efforts.

As of a few days ago the WiFi 7 support is up to its fourth round of review and can be found on the [4]Linux-wireless mailing list . Those with an MT7927-enabled device right now and wanting to use it on Linux can find his [5]DKMS packages on GitHub for deploying to existing kernel versions.
