Merged today was another round of platform-drivers-x86 changes for the ongoing Linux 7.0 cycle. There are bug fixes plus some new hardware support additions that make this merge notable. Due to the new hardware support amounting to just device IDs and not risking existing hardware support, it's fine for merging at this late stage of Linux 7.0 development.
The [1]ASUS Armoury driver that was [2]merged back in Linux 6.19 for supporting more ASUS laptop and gaming handheld device features under Linux continues seeing expanded hardware support. The latest batch of now-supported ASUS products include the ASUS ROG Strix G16 2025 (G614FP), ROG Zephyrus G15 2021 (GA503QM), and ROG Flow Z13 (GZ302EAC). These laptops should all be playing nicely now with the ASUS Armoury driver for GPU switching (on relevant models), APU memory allocation, P/E core management, custom fan curves, and more.
The ASUS NB WMI driver also added support for the ASUS ROG Flow Z13-KJP GZ302EAC laptop for that driver with hotkeys, lighting controls, power profiles, and related functionality exposed via the Windows Management Instrumentation interface.
Over on the HP side, the HP WMI driver added support for the Omen 16-k0xxx, 16-wf1xxx, and 16-xf0xxx series laptops.
The rest of the [3]x86 platform driver changes merged today amount to typical bug fixes. This merged code will be part of the Linux 7.0-rc6 release coming out on Sunday while the stable Linux 7.0 kernel should be out in mid-April.
