Fwupd 2.1.1 Released With Lots Of New Hardware Support

Richard Hughes of Red Hat just announced the release of Fwupd 2.1.1 as the newest feature update to this solution for deploying system firmware updates and other device/peripheral firmware updates under Linux. Paired with the Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS), Fwupd has made firmware updating a breeze on Linux for an increasing number of devices.

With Fwupd 2.1.1 there is support for updating firmware for a lot of new devices. From new HP and Lenovo devices to different touchscreens, HID devices, various keyboards and more, there is a lot of new hardware support introduced in Fwupd 2.1.1:

- ELAN Haptic MCU devices

- FocalTouch devices

- Himax Touchscreens

- HP Engage One G2 Advanced Hub

- KATAR PRO Wireless Gaming Dongle

- Lenovo keyboard and mice accessories

- Lightware Taurus HC40 and HC60

- Novatek touchscreens

- PixArt Touchpads

- Rolling RW101-CAT12 modems

- Sunwinon HID devices

Fwupd 2.1.1 also brings a number of fixes, handling for AMD Platform Secure Boot, support for changing the AMD GPU UMA carve-out size, support for emulation for Bluetooth devices, disabling the UEFI plug-ins for 32-bit x86, and various other changes.
