Box64 v0.4 Improves Support For DRM Protected Games, Steam Is Now More Stable

([Linux Gaming] 6 Hours Ago Box64 0.4)

While [1]Fex-Emu has been getting a lot of attention lately for being Valve-sponsored and powering the upcoming Steam Frame, Box64 continues making progress as another great open-source project for running x86_64 Linux binaries on AArch64 Linux as well as an eye on other architectures like RISC-V.

The Box64 v0.4 emulator is out today with improvements to benefit OpenGL and VUlkan usage, improved compatibility across all architectures, opcode prefix decoder work for Dynarec, and more.

The Box64 v0.4 release announcements note that more Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected games are working with Box64:

"Improved compatibility across all architecture, allowing more DRM protected game to run"

The 32-bit version Box32 is also enjoying more success with Steam:

"BOX32 is getting more and more stable, even if still not 100% ok. But Steam is more stable than before, runs on all architecture. And some gameoverlay UI works, on OpenGL games."

Old Barlow was a crossing-tender at a junction where an express train
demolished an automobile and its occupants. Being the chief witness, his
testimony was vitally important. Barlow explained that the night was dark,
and he waved his lantern frantically, but the driver of the car paid
no attention to the signal.
The railroad company won the case, and the president of the company
complimented the old-timer for his story. "You did wonderfully," he said,
"I was afraid you would waver under testimony."
"No sir," exclaimed the senior, "but I sure was afraid that durned
lawyer was gonna ask me if my lantern was lit."
