Darktable 5.4 RAW Photography Software Reaches Parity Between X11 & Wayland

([Free Software] 13 Minutes Ago Darktable 5.4)

Darktable 5.4 is out today as the newest feature release to this open-source RAW photography software. Besides improving camera support, UI enhancements, and more the Wayland support has been improved with Darktable. With today's Darktable 5.4 release, the Wayland support should be on par with the X11 support.

Today's Darktable 5.4 release notes mention:

"Many GNU/Linux distributions have dropped support for X11 leaving only Wayland. Darktable has received many fixes to work properly on Wayland including display ICC profiles. This version 5.4 should work on Wayland as good as it was on X11."

A nice Christmas gift for the Wayland Linux desktop users with Darktable now behaving as well on Wayland as it does under X11.

Darktable 5.4 also adds a new Capture Sharpening section, a new tone mapper implementation based on Blender's AgX display transform, support for multiple workspaces, and other UI/UX improvements. There are also performance improvements for the first start-up of the app when launched from a NAS or hard drive, 5~20% faster Lut3D module performance, and other enhancements.

There is also support for a number of newer cameras from Canon, Fujifilm, Kodak, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony, and others.

I am changing my name to Chrysler
I am going down to Washington, D.C.
I will tell some power broker
What they did for Iacocca
Will be perfectly acceptable to me!

I am changing my name to Chrysler,
I am heading for that great receiving line.
When they hand a million grand out,
I'll be standing with my hand out,
Yessir, I'll get mine!
