New Rockchip RKCIF & RKVDEC HEVC Media Drivers For Linux 6.19

([Multimedia] 5 Hours Ago Linux 6.19 Media)

The media subsystem updates were sent out this morning for the now-open Linux 6.19 merge window. There are some new Rockchip drivers and other media drivers that are new for Linux 6.19.

The first new Rockchip driver is the VICAP RKCIF driver. This driver has been in the works for a while and going through a number of rounds of review for supporting the Rockchip Camera Interface "CIF". This is used by the Rockchip PX30 Video Input Processor (VIP), Digital Video Port (DVP), and RK3568 Video Capture (VICAP) unit. This driver takes care of mainline support for this Rockchip Camera Interface and hardware-wise for Linux 6.19 is focused on the PX30, RK3568 VICAP DVP, and RK3568 VICAP MIPI interface.

The other new Rockchip driver is the RKVDEC HEVC decoder driver for HEVC/H.265 accelerated decode. The RK3288 SoC variant is focused on for this initial HEVC decode work.

Other new media drivers for Linux 6.19 include the Arm Mali CSS ISP image signal processor driver, Renesas RZV2H IVC driver, and Sony IMX111 CMOS sensor. There is also now a generic framework for the Video 4 Linux 2 Image Signal Processing (ISP).

More details on all of the media feature patches for Linux 6.19 via [1]this pull request .

Sadly absent from this pull request for the Linux 6.19 merge window is the [2]AMD ISP4 web camera driver for the HP ZBook Ultra G1a and future high-end AMD Ryzen laptops. So sadly it's looking like the ISP4 driver still won't be ready for the Linux 6.19 kernel cycle.
